SOUNDSCAN Report: SEPULTURA, BLACK SABBATH, DARKTHRONE
March 22, 2006SEPULTURA's latest album, "Dante XXI", has sold just under 2,300 copies during its first week of release in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. This figure is a bit more than half the 4,000+ first-week sales tally of the group's last CD, "Roorback", and significantly lower than the 10,000+ first-week number recorded by 2001's "Nation" (the band's 1998 effort, "Against", sold 18,000+ copies in its first week of release).
The following are some of the other notable heavy metal/hard rock U.S. sales debuts for the week ending March 19, 2006, as reported by Nielsen SoundScan (All figures are rounded to the nearest thousand, except numbers under 2,000, which are rounded to the nearest hundred; The Billboard 200 chart position included, where applicable):
JOE SATRIANI - "Super Colossal": 12,000 (#86)
BLACK SABBATH - "Greatest Hits 1970-78": 11,000 (#96)
DARKTHRONE - "The Cult Is Alive": 400
